Blue Lagoon Iceland

2025 highlights.

Construction

Following a prolonged period of seismic activity and subsequent changes, major renovations were undertaken to the Blue Lagoon Iceland's experience areas in 2025, and construction went on for the first eight months of the year.

In April, a new experience area opened with a sauna, a steam cave, and a colder lagoon. In July, construction on changing rooms was completed with an increase in the number of lockers and showers to improve the flow of guests, and in August, a new parking lot opened along with temporary luggage storage.

The Blue Lagoon staff has met the challenges posed by seismic activity and construction smoothly and handled two sudden evacuations this year in a professional and balanced manner.

Sales and technology

During the year, AI solutions were implemented in the customer service and sales departments, which now solve simple tasks and increase efficiency, performance and guest services. The Silica Hotel was also added to the resale offering on the Travia platform, in addition to increasing the visibility of the Blue Lagoon and Silica Hotel on various resale websites.

The Blue Lagoon destination was promoted at various events throughout the year, both domestically and internationally, and the company's reputation stretched all the way to the World Expo in Japan, where the Blue Lagoon hosted a successful event in collaboration with Kerecis and Business Iceland.

Offering and events

New features were added to the Blue Lagoon's package offering, with a Signature package added to the general offering, as well as seasonal packages around Easter, Valentine's Day, Christmas and other holidays, which proved successful. Collaboration arrangements with Flothetta related to group floating were also changed, and various seasonal menus were developed in collaboration with Lava Restaurant.

During summer solstice, a concert was held at the Blue Lagoon and the Hipsumhaps band performed to great acclaim. At the end of the year, a party was held for domestic partners, who enjoyed a pleasant evening together in Svartsengi.

Awards and recognitions

Blue Lagoon Iceland won the CIE Tours Gold Award for the second year in a row for the best overall visit.
